Beetle

Some of Porsche’s earliest work - and some might say his finest. What is there not to love about the ‘People’s Car’? The fact that the dear old Bug stayed in production for over 6 decades is perhaps a reflection of the fact, that as a piece of automotive design, the Beetle is a work of some considerable genius. Splits, Ovals, ‘Slopies’ Jeans Beetles, Sparkafers, GT Beetles, 1200s, 1300s, 1500, 1600s.. Whatever your weapon of choice, we’ve seen it all before and can arrange simply spanking cover for your pride and joy. Engine conversion? Porsche fan shroud? IRS swap? Having trouble getting your insurer to even comprehend what this all means? Then let our team sort it all out for you. We’re geeky enough to all excited about this kind of stuff!

Beetle 1302

Although the purists may have lamented the phasing out of the torsion bar front end, real driving enthusiasts rubbed their hands together with the advent of the 1302. A wider track, MacPherson struts and a decent boot made this little bug a demon handler and practical proposition. Easily differentiated from other bugs by its flat screen and bulbous nose, the 1302 and quicker 1600 cc 1302S make superb entries into Beetle ownership, and are the perfect canvas for a number of looks including Resto, Cal or German look. So if your 1302 is packing ’proper’ Stuttgart power, Carbon running boards, genuine Fuchs and 944 seats, don’t put the cover of this masterpiece in the hands of anyone else.

Beetle 1302 Cabrio

Getting to be a pretty rare sight these days, the 1302 Cabrio balances the charm of the ‘flat screen’ models with the handling prowess of the later coil sprung models. So what’s not to like? Our policies cover every aspect of these desirable cars including hood damage and the provision for any modifications like lowering springs or uprated tuning parts that you may have fitted.

Beetle 1303

Technically, this was the greatest evolution of the humble Bug - and whilst the looks may not be to everybody’s tastes, there’s no denying that, dynamically, these ‘Super Beetles’ really are well, ‘super’! A wrap-around windscreen gives great visibility and the padded ‘deep’ dash increases safety. Mix in independent rear suspension and the MacPherson struts up front and you have all the ingredients of a classic that can easily mix it with modern day machinery. Well, perhaps if you have the 1303S version! Whether yours is stock as a rock, Cal, German look - or even a Yellow/Black racer replica, we have everything in place to give you epic insurance cover.

Beetle 1303 Cabrio

In development terms, this is the ‘Holy grail’ for many beetle enthusiasts, with the 1303 Convertible or Cabriolet representing every lesson learned throughout the bug’s production life. Built by Karmann of Osnabruck, the cabrios balance the coil sprung handling of the ‘Super Beetles’ with the desirable drop-head body. Continuing in production for another 2 years after the saloon was discontinued, today the 1303 cabriolet is the ultimate in late-model cool. Either restored, ‘Cal-looked’ or German looked, nothing much touches them in road presence.

Mexican Beetle

Beetle were made in South America from very early on in the car’s life. Thankfully, they had the good sense (and taste) to keep them in production long after Wolfsburg stopped production in 1978, meaning that quite a few of the little blighters managed to make their way over to these fair shores. Our underwriting team appreciates the subtle differences between the Mexican and European spec cars and can arrange cover to suit. With fuel injection, better ventilation - and even niceties like air con to be seen on the Mexican cars, make sure that your cover factors all of these luxuries in.

New Beetle

When VW unveiled their new Beetle concept in 1994, nobody ever thought that it would make it to production status. Thankfully it did - and mostly unchanged. Based on the Golf 4 floor plan and mechanicals, the ‘New’ Beetle gives much of the charm of the original, with the added bonus of increased reliability, function and performance! Yep, these later cars pack a range of engines including 1.4, 1.6, the superb 1.8 Turbo and silky smooth 2.3 V5. If you’re one of the lucky souls to have an RS Beetle in the garage, then call us! After we’ve finished salivating down the phone, we’ll arrange some simply stunning cover for you. Thanks to the Golf underpinnings there are an incredible amount of mods for the new car from wheels and suspension, through to remaps and big brakes. Whatever you’ve done to yours - or whatever you want to, we can handle it!

New Beetle Cabrio

Everything you loved about the New Beetle, but with the added bonus of a foldable fabric roof. The new Cabrio was launched a few years after the saloon - in 2003 - and used the same mechanicals and engine specs to create a great cruiser. These cars look great out of the box, but can look exceptionally cool with just a few mods. Wheels and suspension for example can transform the Cabrio from mild to wild, and naturally we want to hear all about it! Want to stick 22s, Air-ride and a camber kit on your Cab’? Yessir, we have a policy for that - and just about any other crazy idea that you can come up with..

Beach Buggy

With the Beetle’s easily demountable body and separate chassis, the dawn of the Beach Buggy was always going to be inevitable. Growing from its surf-soaked roots in 60s West-Coast USA, the Beach Buggy craze has grown to become a truly international phenomenon. Great designs like the Empi Imp, GP, Hustler, Shark and LDV all quickly became household names and created an instant cottage industry as talented builders transformed their tired Beetles into stylish cruisers. Now, here’s a word of advice guys; ring an average insurer and tell them that you’re driving around in a car that’s had 14 inches chopped out of the floor, and they might turn a little white over the phone, but here, that’s business as usual and we know what it takes to make a buggy look ‘right’

LWB Beach Buggy

Buggies based on the standard Beetle floor pan not only look cool, but they also offer genuine 4 seat capability - and thanks to a longer wheelbase, often drive a little nicer on the road. Buggies are all about detailing, and the right set of wheels and roll cage can make all the difference - as can paint and interior. Often, specialist insurers may not take into account the time, effort and cash that goes into creating a buggy, leaving you short-covered in the event of a claim. Let us tailor a specific solution that is as exacting as you are.
